Why I Love Coloring as an Adult
Share
When most people hear the word “coloring,” they think of kids—scribbling outside the lines with crayons and giggling at purple cows. But coloring has become one of my favorite ways to slow down, relax, and reconnect with my creativity. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I launched CMH Publishing.
As the creator behind CMH Publishing, I’ve always loved designing books that bring joy, calm, and connection into people’s lives—whether it's an empowering activity book, a cozy mystery, or one of the many coloring books in my collection. And coloring is where that love really began.
A Quiet Escape in a Busy World
Let’s face it—adult life is a lot. Between juggling work, family, and a long to-do list, it’s easy to lose touch with our creative side. Coloring gives me a chance to hit pause. When I sit down with a fresh page from one of my own books or another artist’s design, the chaos fades. It's my mini escape—no passport or planning needed.
Creative Freedom (with Zero Pressure)
I love that coloring doesn’t come with expectations. There are no deadlines, no rules, and no right or wrong way to do it. I design pages meant to be approachable, so whether you're a seasoned colorist or just rediscovering your artistic side, there’s something for you.
Coloring is the one place where I let my imagination run wild. Sometimes I follow a theme. Sometimes I just grab the colors that call to me and see where it goes. That freedom is rare—and it’s beautiful.
It Helps Me Destress (and Maybe Helps You, Too)
This hobby is more than just fun—it’s become a form of self-care. The repetitive motion, the soothing act of filling in spaces, and the growing image in front of me—it all helps me feel grounded. That’s why I create coloring books not just for myself, but for you. If I can help someone unwind after a hard day or find a spark of inspiration, that’s the real win.
This philosophy is woven throughout the coloring books I publish, from "Enchanted Fairies and Elves" to "Relaxing Cozy Girl Moments", and even my humorous takes like the "Menopause Sayings Coloring Book". Each design has a purpose: to bring calm, fun, and connection.
A Screen-Free Pocket of Joy
With so much of life lived through a screen, coloring gives me something tactile, something real. There’s a certain joy in flipping through printed pages, choosing a color palette, and watching the design come to life—one stroke at a time.
At www.cmh-publishing.com, I wanted to build a space where others could find that same joy. Whether you’re looking for a mindful activity, a gift for someone special, or a little “me time,” my books are created with heart, humor, and a whole lot of color.
So, Why Do I Love Coloring?
Because it’s simple. It’s joyful. It reconnects me with a part of myself that the world doesn’t always make time for. And now, through CMH Publishing, I get to share that joy with others.
So if you’ve ever thought, “Coloring is just for kids,” I invite you to challenge that idea. Grab a book, grab some pencils, and give it a try. You might just fall in love with it, too.
